Indianapolis, Nov. 24, 2025 — Amazon announced it will invest US$15 billion to expand its data center infrastructure in Indiana, bolstering its cloud computing capacity and reinforcing the state’s role in its long-term technological operations. The investment is part of a broader strategy to scale Amazon Web Services (AWS) globally while strengthening its domestic data center footprint.

According to Amazon, the move will create thousands of jobs in both construction and permanent operations, and it will support AWS’ growing demand for more computing power, storage and low-latency services. The company said the investment is expected to transform its Indiana facilities into one of its most important cloud hubs in the U.S.

Indiapolis officials welcomed the news, highlighting the economic impact of the deal. Local leaders praised Amazon’s commitment to significant capital expenditure, noting that it would drive further growth in the state tech ecosystem while also boosting tax revenues.

Cloud experts say the investment reflects Amazon’s confidence in long-term cloud adoption. As companies increasingly rely on AI, big data and real-time computing, Amazon is building out infrastructure that can support the next generation of cloud-native services. The scale of the investment suggests these services will form a core pillar of Amazon’s future growth strategy.
