Messi was attending a football-related event at the iconic Indian venue when sections of the crowd surged forward, with some spectators tossing bottles and other items onto the pitch. Security officials quickly intervened as the situation escalated, prompting a temporary halt to proceedings.
Witnesses said the incident appeared to stem from overcrowding and heightened excitement among fans eager to get closer to the Argentine World Cup winner. No serious injuries were reported, but organisers later acknowledged lapses in crowd control and safety arrangements.
