WASHINGTON / UNITED STATES — Dec 4, 2025 U.S. regulators are examining whether TP-Link misled American consumers about its corporate identity and connections to China following a restructuring last year. The investigation focuses on whether the company presented itself as a U.S.-based entity while hiding continuing ties to its former parent in China, potentially creating a false sense of security among buyers.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the probe is still in its early stages, and there is no guarantee it will lead to formal charges.
TP-Link’s co-founder, who now leads the U.S. branch, responded by saying the company has been transparent about its supply chain and denied any connection to the Chinese Communist Party, rejecting claims of concealment.
The inquiry reflects growing scrutiny in the United States over foreign-linked technology companies and concerns about national security and consumer transparency when it comes to networking equipment and internet infrastructure.
