LSEG to Embed Financial Data Into ChatGPT as AI Push Deepens

LONDON — Dec 3 (GeokHub) LSEG is partnering with ChatGPT to integrate its banking- and market-data services directly into the AI platform — a major move designed to bring real-time financial analytics and news straight to users. Under the agreement, ChatGPT users with LSEG credentials will be able to access licensed market data and analytics from LSEG’s products within the ChatGPT interface, starting with a phased rollout early next week.
The integration will use LSEG’s new “Model Context Protocol” (MCP) connector — a technical bridge that allows ChatGPT to communicate securely with LSEG’s data systems. Through this connector, subscribers can pose complex queries inside ChatGPT and receive up-to-date, richly detailed insights drawn from LSEG’s deep archives of financial data.
For LSEG, the partnership is part of a broader strategy to expand the reach of its licensed content in the age of generative AI. For financial professionals — analysts, traders, economists — this may offer a major productivity boost: instead of toggling between terminals, data feeds, and news portals, they could simply ask ChatGPT for summaries, comparisons, analyses, and market overviews.
Internally, LSEG will also make ChatGPT Enterprise available to about 4,000 of its employees to help streamline workflows, speed up research, and improve internal reporting. The firm believes this dual external-and-internal deployment could reshape how financial information is consumed and acted upon across the industry.
If successful, the collaboration may accelerate the adoption of AI-powered research tools in finance — and reinforce the role of trusted data providers as critical infrastructure for the AI-enabled future of markets.
