REDMOND / GLOBAL — Dec 4, 2025 Microsoft announced it will increase global pricing for its Microsoft 365 productivity suites starting July 2026, affecting business customers and government agencies worldwide. The adjustment comes as the company expands its offerings with new AI-powered tools and enhanced security features.

Price hikes will hit small business and frontline-worker plans hardest. For example, the “Business Basic” plan will rise noticeably, and frontline-worker subscriptions will see some of the steepest increases. Larger enterprise plans will also go up, though the percentage change is smaller. Government-sector pricing will follow a similar pattern, subject to regional regulatory requirements.

Microsoft said the increases reflect the addition of more than 1,100 new features — including productivity enhancements, integrated security updates, and expanded AI capabilities — intended to help organizations modernize and secure their operations as demand for remote work, hybrid setups, and AI-enabled workflows grows.

The company’s move may prompt organizations of all sizes to reassess budgets, especially in sectors with tight margins or heavy reliance on subscriptions. As AI and productivity tools become more central to work, businesses must weigh the trade-off between upgraded features and higher recurring costs.
