GeokHub

March 2 (GeokHub) – Escalating military tensions in the Middle East are drawing renewed attention to billions of dollars in technology and artificial intelligence investments planned across the region.
Governments in the Gulf have been aggressively positioning themselves as global hubs for AI, cloud computing and semiconductor partnerships. But the widening U.S.-Israeli conflict with Iran is introducing new geopolitical risks just as major international technology firms ramp up spending.
Below is a breakdown of key Big Tech investment commitments in the Middle East.
Microsoft Expands AI Push in the UAE
Microsoft has outlined plans to invest $15.2 billion in the United Arab Emirates between 2023 and 2029. The strategy centers on artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure, anchored by a deepening partnership with Abu Dhabi-based AI company G42.
The tech giant has already deployed $7.3 billion of that commitment, including a $1.5 billion equity stake in G42 and billions more toward building AI and cloud data centers. From 2026 through 2029, Microsoft plans to allocate an additional $7.9 billion in the UAE to further scale capacity.
Amazon Web Services Targets Saudi Growth
Amazon Web Services, the cloud arm of Amazon, has committed more than $5.3 billion to establish a new data-center region in Saudi Arabia by 2026.
The investment supports Riyadh’s ambition to transform into a regional technology powerhouse ahead of World Expo 2030. In addition to infrastructure, AWS has pledged training initiatives aimed at building local cloud expertise and expanding access to advanced AI tools for businesses and developers within the kingdom.
Google Cloud and Saudi AI Hub Plans
Google Cloud, part of Alphabet, has teamed up with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund to launch a $10 billion global AI hub in the kingdom.
The initiative, announced in 2024, is being developed in partnership with local technology firm Humain. The project is designed to accelerate AI research, data infrastructure, and enterprise-level applications across sectors.
Oracle Strengthens Regional Cloud Infrastructure
Oracle has pledged $1.5 billion to expand its cloud footprint in Saudi Arabia, including the launch of a new public cloud region in Riyadh and enhanced capacity at its Jeddah site.
Separately, Oracle has deepened collaboration with Nvidia to advance sovereign AI initiatives in the region. Projects include working with Abu Dhabi’s Department of Government Enablement to build secure, AI-driven government systems.
