PALM BEACH, Florida | Dec 29 (GeokHub) U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that Russian President Vladimir Putin had told him Ukraine attempted to attack Putin’s residence in northern Russia, an allegation Kyiv has denied.

Speaking to reporters in Florida, Trump said he was angered by the claim and warned it could complicate delicate efforts to bring an end to the nearly four-year war in Ukraine.

“I don’t like it. It’s not good,” Trump said when asked whether the allegation could derail peace negotiations. “I learned about it from President Putin today. I was very angry about it.”

Trump said the alleged incident, which Russia has not publicly substantiated, came at a sensitive moment in negotiations aimed at halting the conflict.

“It’s a delicate period of time,” Trump said. “This is not the right time. It’s one thing to be offensive, because they’re offensive. It’s another thing to attack his house. It’s not the right time to do any of that.”

Ukraine has rejected Russia’s claim, calling it baseless and accusing Moscow of using such allegations to undermine diplomatic progress.

Asked whether U.S. intelligence had confirmed the alleged attack, Trump said the matter was still being assessed.

“We’ll find out,” he said.

Trump described his phone call with Putin earlier on Monday as a “very good talk,” despite what he called unresolved and difficult issues.

“We have a few very thorny issues,” Trump said, referring to negotiations over territory and security arrangements as part of efforts to end the war.

The comments come a day after Trump met Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in Florida, where both leaders said talks were advancing but acknowledged that major disagreements — particularly over territorial control — remain unresolved.
