Jan 8, 2026 (GeokHub) — Volvo Cars has announced a recall affecting more than 413,000 vehicles in the United States due to a software problem linked to rearview camera functionality, according to U.S. auto safety regulators.

The recall covers approximately 413,151 vehicles, including certain 2021 to 2025 Volvo XC40 models. The issue may cause the rearview camera image to fail or display incorrectly, potentially increasing the risk of accidents while reversing.

Volvo said the problem will be resolved through a software update, which can be installed either by authorized dealers or delivered over the air (OTA) at no cost to customers.

This marks the second recall for the same group of vehicles in the U.S. market. The automaker explained that while an earlier recall was issued in May last year to address a similar issue, engineers later identified an additional software fault that could trigger the same camera malfunction.

Volvo said it is finalizing a comprehensive remedial software update for all affected vehicles, with an over-the-air rollout expected in the coming weeks.

Owners are advised to monitor official notifications from the company regarding update availability and installation instructions.
