Longtime American Idol music supervisor Robin Kaye and her husband Thomas Deluca were found dead inside their Encino home on Monday in what police are calling a double homicide.
Authorities were called to the residence after concerned family members requested a welfare check. Officers arrived at the property in the early afternoon and discovered both victims with fatal gunshot wounds — Kaye was found in the pantry, while Deluca was located in a bathroom.
Suspect Arrested
The Los Angeles Police Department arrested 22-year-old Raymond Boodarian on Tuesday in connection with the killings. Investigators believe the suspect entered the couple’s home days earlier through an unlocked door and hid inside for several days before fatally shooting them when they returned home.
Boodarian has no known connection to the victims, according to police. Surveillance footage and forensic evidence helped identify and locate the suspect, who was taken into custody without incident.
History of Security Concerns
Sources close to the couple revealed that Kaye had recently expressed concern about her safety and was considering hiring private security. Just two days before the murders, she reported a possible burglary, though officers found no sign of forced entry at that time.
Neighbors also reported a string of recent thefts in the area and recalled seeing suspicious activity around the property in the days leading up to the killings.
Industry Reacts
Kaye was a respected figure in the entertainment industry, having worked on American Idol since 2009, as well as on other major productions such as Lip Sync Battle and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Her husband, Thomas Deluca, was a musician and songwriter who collaborated with notable artists and released his own music, including the 2022 album Street Rock.
In a statement, American Idol producers mourned the loss:
“Robin was a beloved member of the Idol family and an integral part of our team for over a decade. She brought passion and professionalism to everything she touched. We are devastated by this loss.”
Ongoing Investigation
The motive behind the attack remains unclear, and LAPD detectives are continuing to gather evidence. Boodarian is expected to be formally charged later this week.
The double homicide has shocked both the local community and the broader entertainment industry, raising renewed concerns about residential security in high-profile neighborhoods.
