MediaTek, Taiwan’s leading chip designer, says it’s targeting several billions of dollars in revenue from its AI accelerator ASIC chips by 2027. The company is pushing aggressively into the data center chip space, betting that demand for AI compute will offer major upside.
In recent comments made during its quarterly earnings call, CEO Rick Tsai revealed that MediaTek plans to hit $1 billion from cloud AI chips in 2026, rising to “multiple billions” by 2027. The firm intends to launch more projects beyond that, with one new line expected to generate revenue starting in 2028.
MediaTek is aiming to capture 10-15% of what it sees as a $50 billion market for AI ASICs in data centers over the coming years. To help deliver on this, it has partnered with Nvidia to co-design the GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip, which powers Nvidia’s personal AI supercomputer line.
Despite the bold ambitions, MediaTek’s current financials reflect steady but modest growth: the company posted third-quarter revenue of T$142.1 billion, up 7.8% year-on-year, with net income slipping slightly. Its share price has underperformed relative to the broader market.
