U.S. President Donald Trump has publicly called on Microsoft to dismiss its Global Affairs President, Lisa Monaco, accusing her of being a threat to national security.
Trump criticized Monaco’s close ties to government insiders and highlighted Microsoft’s contracts with the U.S. government as reason why he believes her role is problematic. He urged Microsoft to “immediately terminate the employment of Lisa Monaco.”
Monaco, who previously served as Deputy Attorney General, now oversees Microsoft’s global policy, compliance, and corporate relations at a time when the company is navigating scrutiny from regulators and lawmakers.
Microsoft has not yet responded to Trump’s demand. The call adds to growing tensions between the White House and major tech firms over governance, influence, and the role of tech in national affairs.
