BEIJING, Feb 13 (GeokHub) — China’s commerce ministry said restoring stability in the global semiconductor supply chain is now a top priority, following a Dutch court decision involving chipmaker Nexperia.
In a statement released Friday, the ministry urged authorities in the Netherlands to work constructively with China and create favorable conditions for companies to address internal governance matters.
Dutch Court Orders Investigation
Earlier this week, a Dutch court ordered an investigation into alleged mismanagement at Nexperia and upheld a prior decision to suspend former CEO Zhang Xuezheng. The ruling reinforced an earlier move made in October, citing the company’s need for operational stability.
Zhang is also the founder of Wingtech, Nexperia’s Chinese parent company.
Supply Chain Stability in Focus
China’s commerce ministry emphasized that maintaining a stable semiconductor ecosystem is essential for global industrial growth. The ministry framed the issue as part of broader efforts to ensure smooth cross-border operations within the chip sector.
The semiconductor industry remains highly interconnected, with companies across Asia, Europe, and the United States relying on complex production networks. Any governance or regulatory developments affecting key players can ripple across supply chains.
