AMSTERDAM, Jan 5 — GeokHub A Dutch court will hold a public hearing on January 14 to determine whether a formal investigation should be launched into alleged mismanagement at semiconductor manufacturer Nexperia, a case that has already disrupted supplies of essential chips to the global automotive industry.
The Amsterdam Enterprise Chamber is expected to hear arguments from all parties before deciding whether to proceed with a full inquiry. A ruling is anticipated at a later date following the hearing.
The case represents the first public legal confrontation in a dispute that has shaken one of Europe’s key producers of basic semiconductors, components widely used by carmakers and industrial manufacturers.
Background to the Dispute
The upcoming hearing follows preliminary measures taken by the court in October, when it suspended Nexperia’s former chief executive and temporarily transferred shares held by its Chinese parent company, Wingtech, to a Dutch legal administrator.
Separately, the Dutch government briefly took control of Nexperia in September amid national security concerns, before later reversing that intervention.
The ownership and governance battle has contributed to shortages of Nexperia’s chips, amplifying supply chain pressures in the automotive sector, which relies on the components in high volumes.
Company Positions
Nexperia has indicated it will argue that the court’s earlier actions were justified and that there are sufficient grounds for a formal investigation into the company’s governance and management.
“Nexperia’s position is that there were sound reasons to question the course of affairs and that an investigation should proceed,” the company said in a statement.
Wingtech, which owns Nexperia through its holding company Yuching, confirmed the January 14 hearing date but has not publicly detailed its legal arguments.
