Caracas, Dec 15 (GeokHub) Venezuela’s state-owned oil company PDVSA said on Monday that its operations remain unaffected by a recent cyber attack, and the company accused the United States of involvement in the incident as Caracas continues its tense relationship with Washington.
PDVSA issued a statement asserting that safeguards kept critical systems running despite the cyber breach, and emphasized that production, exports and refinery activities were operating normally. The company maintained that contingency plans ensured continuity of service and that no disruptions occurred to its energy infrastructure.
In the statement, PDVSA officials directly blamed the U.S. government for orchestrating or supporting the cyber assault, though no evidence was presented to substantiate the accusation. The claim adds to longstanding accusations by Venezuelan authorities that external actors have sought to undermine the country’s energy sector amid geopolitical tensions and sanctions.
