NEW DELHI, Nov. 26, 2025 — A joint venture backed by Reliance Industries has unveiled plans for a major $11 billion investment to build a next-generation AI-ready data centre campus in the coastal city of Visakhapatnam. The project marks one of India’s most ambitious digital-infrastructure commitments and underscores the country’s rising demand for cloud computing and artificial-intelligence capacity.

The planned campus will span roughly 400 acres and deliver up to 1 gigawatt of data-centre capacity, specifically designed to support high-density AI workloads, large-scale cloud operations, and enterprise digital services. Developers say the facility will feature modern cooling systems, advanced energy management, and modular expansion options to meet India’s rapidly growing digital needs through 2030.

The investment comes as India positions itself as a global hub for artificial intelligence and data-driven innovation. By hosting a major share of future AI computing inside the country, the project is expected to reduce reliance on overseas data facilities, cut latency for domestic businesses, and increase data-sovereignty compliance for global companies operating in India.

Technology analysts say the new infrastructure could draw cloud providers, AI startups, enterprise software firms, and global tech investors into Andhra Pradesh, further accelerating the region’s digital-economy momentum.

Beyond the technology benefits, the multi-billion-dollar project is expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect jobs — from construction and engineering to long-term IT operations and maintenance. Local industries, including power, connectivity, and logistics, are also likely to see growth as the campus takes shape.

Economic planners believe the project could anchor a new wave of digital-economy development in Visakhapatnam, potentially transforming the region into a leading data-infrastructure hub in South Asia.
