CUPERTINO — March 26 (GeokHub) — Apple has announced a major expansion of its American Manufacturing Program, adding new industry partners and committing $400 million to boost domestic production of key technology components through 2030.

The move reflects a broader industry shift toward strengthening supply chains within the United States amid rising geopolitical uncertainty.

New Partners Join Apple’s Manufacturing Ecosystem

Apple revealed that Bosch, Cirrus Logic, TDK and Qnity Electronics will join its expanding network of U.S.-based manufacturing partners.

These companies will focus on producing critical components such as sensors, integrated circuits and advanced materials used across Apple’s devices.

Some of these components are expected to be manufactured in the United States for the first time, marking a significant shift in production strategy.

Building on Massive Investment Plans

The latest investment builds on Apple’s broader commitment to inject hundreds of billions of dollars into U.S. manufacturing over multiple years.

The company says the initiative is designed to strengthen domestic capabilities in semiconductor production and advanced electronics while supporting job creation.

Strategic Chip and Technology Partnerships

As part of the expansion, Apple will collaborate with Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company to produce chips for sensing technologies at a U.S.-based facility.

Meanwhile, Cirrus Logic will partner with GlobalFoundries to advance semiconductor processes that power features like biometric authentication in Apple devices.

TDK is also set to begin producing sensors domestically for the first time, while Qnity Electronics will supply materials essential for semiconductor manufacturing and artificial intelligence technologies.

Supply Chain Shift Accelerates

The expansion underscores a growing trend among global tech companies to localize production and reduce dependence on overseas manufacturing hubs.

Industry analysts say the shift is being driven by geopolitical risks, trade tensions and the need for more resilient supply chains.

By bringing more production closer to home, companies aim to improve reliability, reduce disruptions and maintain tighter control over critical technologies.

Strengthening U.S. Tech Manufacturing

Apple says the initiative will help bolster the United States’ position in the global semiconductor race, an area seen as vital for economic and national security.

The investment is also expected to support innovation in emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence and advanced hardware systems.
