DUBAI / SAN FRANCISCO, March 26 (GeokHub) – Apple is preparing to open its Siri voice assistant to third-party artificial intelligence services, Bloomberg News reported on Thursday, signaling a major shift in its AI strategy. The move would allow users to route queries through competitors such as Alphabet’s Gemini or Anthropic’s Claude, integrating these services directly within Siri on iOS 27.

The update, expected with Apple’s upcoming iOS 27 release, would let developers enable their AI chatbot apps—installed via the App Store—to work seamlessly with Siri and Apple’s broader Intelligence platform. Users could select which AI service handles each request, giving iPhone owners more flexibility in choosing their AI assistant.

“This marks a strategic pivot for Apple as it aims to catch up with peers in the AI space and transform the iPhone into a central hub for artificial intelligence,” said industry analysts. Siri, first launched over a decade ago, has long been Apple’s flagship voice assistant, but the integration with multiple AI platforms could strengthen its relevance amid growing competition from other tech giants.

The expansion may also open new revenue streams for Apple, as the company could take a share of subscriptions sold through these third-party AI services. The new features are expected to be previewed at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference in June, though plans could evolve before the official release.
