FRANKFURT, March 2 (GeokHub) — Deutsche Telekom has announced a partnership with Starlink to expand mobile network coverage across parts of Europe where traditional infrastructure is limited or hard to build.
Under the collaboration, Deutsche Telekom will use Starlink’s satellite communications technology to deliver direct mobile connectivity in locations that are difficult to reach with conventional towers. These include protected natural areas and regions with challenging terrain where laying cables or erecting masts is especially costly or restricted.
“We are bringing mobile communications to areas where network expansion is particularly challenging,” Deutsche Telekom said in a statement on Monday. The move aims both to improve service for customers in underserved regions and to strengthen the resilience of mobile networks.
The initiative reflects a broader industry trend toward blending terrestrial and space-based networks to fill coverage gaps and extend digital services. By tapping into Starlink’s satellite constellation, Deutsche Telekom expects to enhance connectivity for users in remote rural zones and other hard-to-serve parts of its footprint.
