SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 5 (GeokHub) — OpenAI on Thursday unveiled a new enterprise-focused service designed to help businesses build, deploy and manage artificial intelligence “agents,” marking a major step in the company’s effort to deepen its foothold in the corporate market.

The service, called Frontier, allows companies to create AI-powered agents capable of carrying out specific tasks, such as identifying and fixing software bugs or automating routine operational work. OpenAI executives described the platform as a foundational layer that can integrate with existing company systems as well as third-party AI tools.

The move underscores OpenAI’s growing focus on enterprise customers, a segment CEO Sam Altman has previously identified as a central driver of future growth. The company is competing aggressively with rivals such as Anthropic, which has built much of its business around corporate clients.

OpenAI said Frontier is designed to lower barriers for companies looking to adopt AI agents at scale, enabling faster deployment without requiring businesses to overhaul their current infrastructure.

Fidji Simo, OpenAI’s chief executive for applications, said the goal is to make AI agents easier to activate and manage across large organizations.

“This is about creating an intelligence layer that allows enterprises to turn on agents in a much simpler way,” Simo said.

The launch comes as competition between OpenAI and Anthropic intensifies on multiple fronts. Both companies are preparing for potential public listings and are increasingly vying for enterprise contracts, investor attention and market share.

The rivalry has also spilled into public view, with both firms reportedly planning advertising campaigns during the Super Bowl. Recent comments from executives highlighted tensions over the role of advertising in consumer AI products.

OpenAI said Frontier is part of a broader strategy to position its technology as a core operating layer for businesses adopting AI-driven workflows.
