NEW YORK — Dec 5 (GeokHub) Meta has postponed the release of its upcoming mixed-reality glasses, code-named “Phoenix,” pushing the launch from the second half of 2026 to 2027, according to an internal memo cited in media reports. The company said it needs extra time to refine the device and ensure it meets quality standards before hitting the market.

The Phoenix device — previously known as “Puffin” — is said to be lightweight and more affordable than high-end rival headsets, although some previous reporting described its displays and processing power as modest compared with premium models. Meta executives reportedly emphasized that the delay is about polishing the user experience rather than adding new features.

The postponement comes as the company reassesses production timelines and overall budget for its augmented/mixed-reality efforts. The move could reshape expectations for Meta’s hardware roadmap and give the firm more runway to address performance, design, and reliability concerns before launch.
