JAMB Releases 2025 UTME Results; 39,834 Withheld Over Examination Malpractices

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially released the results of the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), conducted across 882 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centers nationwide. Out of over 1.9 million candidates who sat for the exam, 39,834 results have been withheld due to various infractions.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed that the withheld results are under investigation for issues ranging from identity fraud and biometric discrepancies to impersonation and involvement in "WhatsApp runs"—rogue groups promising leaked exam questions. Specifically, 3,656 candidates were flagged for possessing extraneous fingerprints, suggesting potential impersonation strategies. Additionally, 244 candidates were found to have subscribed to illicit platforms for exam malpractice.

The Board has identified and is taking action against several CBT centers implicated in these malpractices. Notably, Tigh Technologies Limited and Sascon International School in Abuja, Wudil Computer Information Technology in Kano State, and Penta M & Centre 2 in Sokoto State are under scrutiny. Furthermore, four centers have been delisted and blacklisted due to technical deficiencies and substandard performance.

In terms of candidate demographics, 41,027 underage candidates registered for the exam, with only 467 meeting the high-performance criteria. One underage candidate was disqualified due to examination malpractice. The Board also ensured inclusivity by successfully examining 501 candidates with disabilities through the JAMB Equal Opportunity Group (JEOG) across 11 centers nationwide.

Candidates can check their results by sending "UTMERESULT" as a text message to 55019 or 66019 using the phone number used during registration. JAMB reiterates its commitment to maintaining the integrity of its examinations and ensuring a fair assessment process for all candidates.
