LONDON, March 28 (GeokHub) — Tens of thousands of demonstrators marched through central London on Saturday in a “March to Stop the Far Right,” voicing opposition to the Reform UK party, led by former Brexit campaigner Nigel Farage, which has surged in recent opinion polls.
Backed by trade unions and civil society organizations under the “Together Alliance” banner, police estimated roughly 50,000 people participated in the protest. Demonstrators carried placards condemning Reform UK’s anti-immigration policies, alongside pro-Palestinian banners and Iranian flags, reflecting wider social and political concerns.
The march also drew figures from other political movements, including Green Party leader Zach Polanski, emphasizing a broad coalition of opposition voices challenging both Reform UK and the traditional Labour Party led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Security and Arrests
London’s Metropolitan Police reported 25 arrests in connection with Saturday’s demonstration, which coincided with another pro-Palestinian protest in the city. Authorities monitored the events closely to ensure public safety and manage traffic disruptions in central London.
Reform UK’s rise in polls has alarmed various civil society groups and trade unions, prompting large-scale mobilizations like Saturday’s march. The demonstration highlights growing public engagement against far-right ideologies and concerns about immigration and social policies in the UK.
