PARIS, Feb. 28 (GeokHub) — French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday urged an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council following the outbreak of hostilities involving the United States, Israel, and Iran, warning that the escalation poses grave risks to international peace and security.

Macron said the rapidly expanding conflict in the Middle East carries “serious consequences” not only for the region but for global stability. His appeal comes after U.S. and Israeli forces launched coordinated strikes on Iranian targets, dramatically intensifying tensions.

Diplomatic Outreach Across the Region

According to French officials, Macron held separate discussions with leaders from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Jordan, and the president of Iraq’s autonomous Kurdistan region. The conversations focused on preventing further escalation and safeguarding regional security.

France signaled it stands ready to support its closest partners if requested. In a public statement, Macron described the current trajectory of events as “dangerous for everyone” and called for immediate restraint.

Call for Negotiations on Nuclear and Missile Programs

The French president stressed that Tehran must engage in what he described as “good-faith negotiations” aimed at halting its nuclear and ballistic missile activities, as well as actions he said contribute to regional instability.

He framed diplomacy as the only viable path forward, emphasizing that a negotiated solution is essential for the broader security architecture of the Middle East.

Macron also spoke about the future of the Iranian people, stating that they should be able to determine their own destiny freely. He criticized what he described as repression by Iranian authorities, arguing that political change must ultimately come through the will of the people.
