Brentford have turned down Manchester United’s improved offer of £62.5 million (including add-ons) for star winger Bryan Mbeumo, sources have confirmed. This follows United’s earlier attempt of around £55 million, which was also rejected.

The Bees are reportedly holding out for a fee above £65 million, insisting that United match their valuation on Cunha’s recent €62.5 million transfer—ideally with the lion’s share paid upfront.

A standout performer, Mbeumo scored 20 Premier League goals last season, making him a leading scorer behind the likes of Salah, Isak, and Haaland. United view him as a key addition to bolster their frontline under manager Ruben Amorim, but remain reluctant to overpay beyond their structured budget.

Despite interest from Tottenham, who is managed by Thomas Frank (Mbeumo’s former Brentford coach), the player has reportedly expressed a strong preference for Manchester United.

What’s Next:

  • Renewed Negotiations: United are expected to revisit negotiations, potentially increasing the guaranteed portion of their offer.
  • Player Decision: With Mbeumo clear on Old Trafford as his priority, dynamics could shift pressure onto Brentford to finalise.
  • Strategic Fit: Adding a proven Premier League scorer aligns with United’s summer rebuild—especially after their signing of Matheus Cunha.
